Kalidas Indo-American Community Theatre Group of Rochester was formed in 2005.
The first Indian play translated in to English to promote theatre activity in the community was performed in Center Stage Auditorium of India Community Center in Macedon.
With success of this play and tremendous community response, a formal name, KALIDAS, was adopted and was registered as a non-profit organization.

"Kalidas" was considered to be one of the greatest Indian literary personalities of all time, and his works form the cornerstone of Indian mythology.

Two plays a year now has become a tradition for Kalidas. All performances are two nights of dinner theatre and a one afternoon of regular show.
In 2006 under the new name, Kalidas showcased Neil Simon’s comedy Rumors. In May of 2007 Kalidas presented What’s in a Name?, written by a native of Rochester, Dr. V. Raman; and in December Run for Your Wife by Ray Cooney. Too Soon for Daisies by William Dinner and Oh! My Giddy Aunt, a musical adaptation by Mildred Kayden of a play by Ray Cooney were performed in May of 2008.
In May of 2009 The Cemetery Club by Ivan Menchell and in December It Runs in the Family by Ray Cooney were showcased.
